You old boy and girl scouts and veterans no doubt were introduced to the Morse code, perhaps forced to learn it for a merit badge. “…---…” was adopted in 1906 at a radiotelegraphic conference in Berlin as a universal distress signal. Later, folks incorrectly thought it “stood” for something like “save our ship” or “save our souls.” For today’s rant, we use the more modern interpretation “same old shit.”
Oil companies once again post record profits; management rakes in obscene salaries while we spend our dwindling life savings on two to three dollar a gallon gas. It ain’t right.
Pit bull dogs continue to maul and kill innocent people. Dogs bred to fight have no place in society. I do not suggest euthanasia, merely sterilization so the breed dies out over time.
Incompetence gone wild. Why must we monitor every activity and bill we get from utilities, banks and credit card companies? I am only ONE person and yet I have been overcharged by both the electric and gas utilities (they fixed it when caught by me), In the last month I have been wrongly charged interest on one credit card and a late fee on another.
Local politics. Here at home, we have a Guvner who DECREES that all young maidens WILL be given a vaccination. What happened to legislation and voting on laws? While it may be in the best interest of their future health, what if he DECREES that all young men be circumcised, and by the way, it’s never to late men, so step forward for a short arm inspection.
National politics. I look forward, as I know you do, to the next 80 weeks of campaigning for the Presidency of the U.S. of A. Give us a break. Put all the names of the lunatics who would want the job in a hat and pull out a name – could we do worse?
Oops – time to dress for Sunday School where I can get all the kiddies in my class to pray for the Bears to win the Superbowl today!
